Invitation to Congress


Dear Colleagues,

The excitement that started in 2006 as Family Medicine Days within the body of Lütfi Kırdar Training and Research Hospital, is now continuing with the thirteenth of Istanbul Family Medicine Congress. Our congress, which is hosted by various Training and Research Hospitals and University Medical Schools in Istanbul, is being held on 20 – 22nd of June 2019 at the Topkapı Campus of Istanbul İstinye University.

"Turkey Family Medicine Practice Model" also left behind 12 years as our Congress. However, the problems and responsibilities that we have been dealing with in the primary care, have continued to increase day by day. The increase in the population, mass migration movements of our country and malpractice sanctions are just a few of the reasons for these problems. But similar health systems are implemented in many countries around the world, and no system is perfect.

We are organizing the 13th International Istanbul Family Medicine Congress with the aim of bringing together the experiences of the primary care physicians, sharing their experiences with each other and creating new opportunities for strengthening Family Medicine in our country by comparing the examples in the world. In our congress, we aimed to find current answers to the problems encountered by family physicians in clinical practice, to update their practices in basic subjects and to provide more effective service to their patients by sharing their experiences with each other. We also expect our foreign colleagues to share their experiences.

We plan the 13th International Istanbul Family Medicine Congress as a wide scientific program to meet the different interests and needs of the participants. But we will have another first this year. In order to draw attention to the important position of the departments of Nutrition and Dietetics, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Midwifery, Nursing, Child Development and other Health Sciences in health services in our country and in order to present the scientific studies of these disciplines as deserved, together with the Faculties of Health Sciences, we are organizing the 1st International Istanbul Health Sciences Congress together.

We would like to present the results of your experiences and scientific studies in our congress. For this reason, as in previous years, we are waiting for your scientific papers to be presented and evaluated in oral presentations and poster presentations.

We believe that our congress will be enriched with your participation as a member of the health services and family medicine services provided in our country and we will experience both scientific and social integration in our congress. In Istanbul, which will embrace you with its nature, cultural and historical texture, we hope to meet you in the joint organization of 1st International Istanbul Health Sciences Congress and 13. International Istanbul Family Medicine Congress.

General Information


Congress Date: 12th International İstanbul Family Medicine Congress will be held between June 20 – 22nd, 2019 in İstanbul, Turkey.

Congress’ Language: Congress will be held in Turkish and English with simultaneous translation.

Registration and Information: Registration and Information Desks wiil be open at 14.00 hours from June, 20th, 2019 until 17.00 hours on June, 22nd,2019.

Name Badges: Name badges must be worn to enter scientific sessions, exhibition areas and all social activities by each participant, accompanying person and industry representative.

Accreditation for Continuing Education: The congress will be presented to the approval of Turkish Medical Association Continuing Medical Education Accreditation Board. It’s also been applied to European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®) for the “Continuing Medical Education” points.

Letter of Invitation: Upon request, a letter of invitation will be sent to any registered participants. This letter will be sent solely to assist participants in obtaining a permission from their institutions.

Certificate of Participation / Abstracts Book: Certificate of participation will be given to the all registered participants of the congress.
Abstracts will be published in the Anatolian Journal of Family Medicine and also obtain as PDF format at www.tahev.org.tr and www.ahead.org.tr websites

Abstract Submission


All abstracts accepted and presented at the congress will be published in the Anatolian Journal of Family Medicine, an international peer-reviewed scientific journal on Family Medicine.

Before the Congress

To display a poster, all presenters must be registered in advance.
If you are NOT pre-registered, your submission will be withdrawn and you will not be able to display your poster.
Please note if you have not completed your registration, your abstract will NOT be included in the final abstract book and NOT reserved a board.

Submitting an abstract

After preparing your abstract following information below, you should send it via e-mail to bildiri@ahead.org.tr
Subject line must have the following information: Choice of presentation and the heading.
Example: “Poster – Effects of Type 2 Diabetes on Osteoporosis” or “e-poster – Value of HAD Questionnaire Above Diabetics”

Deadline

May, 31st 2019.

E-posters Only

If you choose to send an abstract only as an E-poster, you should prepare a one-slide MS ppt presentation and send it to bildiri@ahead.org.tr as an attachment until the deadline.

Poster Presentation Requirements

To efficiently communicate the results of your research to the viewers of your poster, you are kindly requested to devote considerable effort toward the design of your poster. Please pay attention to details by carefully following the instructions outlined below:

Important Information – Posters

Poster Display Equipment

A large display board giving a display area of approximately 70cm wide x 90cm high will be provided for your poster display. On-site staff will be available to assist you.
Your poster number will be provided on the display board. Please ensure that your poster title and authors’ as stated on the submitted abstract are printed on your poster.

Content

Make your title short to summarize the message of the research. Do not include references unless it is imperative. Please include financial disclosure.

Layout

Do not use several A4 sheets. If necessary please note that individual pieces of paper should be pre-mounted onto one large piece of paper or card. On-site staff will be available to assist you. The reading order of the a poster should be down columns, rather than across rows.

Font

Poster body text must be readable from 2 meters (with possible exception of references) and the title from 4-5 meters.

Finally…

  1. Check the draft of your poster very carefully to ensure that there are no typographical or style errors
  2. Use matt (non reflective) encapsulation to protect the poster
  3. Display, Installation, Presentation, and Removal Times
  4. Poster presenters should plan to be beside their posters during the designated coffee breaks, as specified in the program. Please see the Congress Secretariat for board allocation at the Congress. Posters must be removed at the end of the Congress. The Congress Organizing Committee will not be responsible for posters that are not removed on time.
  5. Exact poster presentation times will be provided and published closer to the Congress.

Award

After evaluation of the scientific committee, the first three abstracts will be awarded by TAHEV (The Turkish Foundation of Family Medicine) during the closing ceremony
